The second highest graded 1915 Cracker Jack baseball set ever assembled is on the auction block.
Heritage Auctions has broken the consignment into 176 individual lots which are being offered in a special auction open through next Thursday.
The second of two sets issued through Cracker Jack more than a century ago, the 1915 issue is easier to find in high grade thanks to a mail-in offer the ’14 set didn’t have. However, the cards are still extremely desirable with the set featuring Ty Cobb, Nap Lajoie, Joe Jackson, Christy Mathewson, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson and dozens of other notable names.
Every card in the set is ranked at least PSA NM-MT 8 with 34 graded PSA Mint 9 and seven standing alone as the finest known.
Highlights include a PSA 8 Jackson (current bid $70,000); PSA 8 Cobb ($60,000); PSA 9 Mathewson (highest graded, $38,000); PSA 9 Lajoie (highest graded, current bid $13,000); PSA 8 Johnson (current bid $12,000); PSA 9 Plank (current bid $14,000); PSA 8 Wagner (current bid $10,000).
Bidding in the auction is set to continue through May 30.
