The jersey worn by LeBron James on opening night of the 2019-20 NBA season is on the auction block and there appears to be no shortage of interest.
The gold #23 Lakers shirt is among numerous jerseys from the first games of the season that are on the block at NBA Auctions this month.
James wore the jersey during the Lakers’ 112-102 Opening Night loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on October 22at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.
As of Wednesday afternoon, bidding had pushed past $20,000 with the auction not set to end until December 3.
James recorded a Double-Double in the game, putting up 18 points, a game-high eight assists and a team-high 10 rebounds.
The jersey, a Size 52 with six inches of extra length, is registered into the NBA and MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program.
Late last week, Kawhi Leonard’s first Clippers jersey, worn in that same game, sold for $14,990.
On Tuesday night, James became the first player in NBA history to record a Triple-Double against every other team in the league. He’s currently averaging 25 points, 11.1 assists and nearly eight rebounds per game for the Lakers, who own a 12-2 record.
Opening Night jerseys from the Nets, Cavs, Pelicans, Jazz and Timberwolves are scheduled to end Thursday night on the NBA Auctions website.
