Those who prefer their quarterbacks to have Super Bowl rings and plenty of time left to add more “how’d he do that?” plays to the highlight reel will be keeping an eye on this one.
One of the top Patrick Mahomes rookie cards is going to hit the auction block this summer through Heritage Auctions. Even the name is big. The 2017 Panini National Treasures Rookie NFL Gear Dual Material Signatures Laundry Tag Brand Logo is a 1/1. Graded Mint 9 by Beckett with a 10 for the autograph, the card has a pre-sale estimate of $250,000.
There have been plenty of autographed, low serial-numbered Mahomes cards sold at auction since he led the Kansas City Chiefs to victory in Super Bowl 54, but this one should top them all. The card includes a game-worn patch piece along with a Nike logo at the top and Mahomes’ on-card rookie year signature on the bottom.
So far, at least 17 individual Mahomes rookie cards have sold for $100,000 or more, topped by a 1/5 card from the same product and bearing the same grade that netted $840,000 in January.
The latest offering will come in the Summer Sports Card Auction that’s on the Heritage docket for July 22-24.
