Another one of the top Giannis Antetokounmpo rookie cards is about to hit the auction market.
Heritage Auctions will offer the 2013-14 Panini Prizm Black Rookie Autograph in its upcoming Fall Collectibles Auction. The 1/1 card has been graded 9.5 by Beckett Grading with an autograph grade of 10.
Heritage has put the pre-sale estimate at $750,000.
It’s the second major Antetokounmpo rookie to hit the auction market in the latter half of the year. Goldin Auctions is currently offering the 1/1 National Treasures Logoman that’s expected to sell for more than $1 million.
The subgrades on the Prizm card include 10s for centering and edges and 9.5s for corners and surface. The autograph is on a sticker. The back already refers to him as “The Greek Freak.”
Antetokounmpo was only 19 years old when the card was pulled from a pack of Prizm. At the time, he was an extremely raw talent, less than a year removed from playing professionally in his home country of Greece. After making himself eligible for the NBA Draft, he waited until Bucks general manager John Hammond took a chance with the 15th overall pick. In the six seasons that followed, he became a franchise cornerstone and is currently the reigning back-to-back NBA MVP.
The auction, which will include hundreds of other sports card and memorabilia lots, won’t be live until November 19 and will close December 10-12.
