Excerpt from the press release:
From the power of "The Sultan of Swat", the "Bambino" Babe Ruth, whose mighty swings forever changed the face of the game, to the wit, winning-ways and leadership of Yogi Berra and Casey Stengel, Yankeeography shines a spotlight on the players who brought a singular style and pride to the Yankees.
Featured within are champions like the record-setting DiMaggio, whose 56-game hitting streak is the standard for consistent, and Mickey Mantle, a hero to baseball fans everywhere, whose record for the most World Series home runs continues as the gold-standard of clutch power. Episodes also focus on the inimitable players who help the Yankees continue their winning tradition into the ’70s and ’80s such as pitching greats like Ron Guidry, Catfish Hunter, Goose Gossage, and Sparky Lyle and some of the fiercest hitters in the sport’s history — including "Mr. October" Reggie Jackson, and the sweet-swinging lefty first baseman Don Mattingly, one of the most beloved Yankee players of all time.
Also featured in Yankeeography are current team stars including Roger Clemens, winner of more Cy Young Award than any other pitcher, lights-out closer Mariano Rivera, whose confidence and confounding cutter have sealed victories across two decades, Jorge Posada, the career-long Yankee catcher and the consummate unflappable professional, and team captain Derek Jeter.
The revered history and triumphant tradition of the New York Yankees are embodied in these talented players and skillful managers who have taken the field and led the team to more World Series championships than any other team in history. And, never before have so many celebrated Yankees moments been collected in one place as they have with Yankeeography.
