White Plains Sports Card Show Draws Signers

The ‘69 Mets still draw faithful fans in New York…and autograph guests who have their own momentos.

Thanksgiving weekend still brings out the long weekend card shows in a few places around the country.

In White Plains, New York, collectors came to the Westchester County Center to look over new and old baseball cards and grab a few autographs.

Among the attendees: Ron Swoboda, the former outfielder-turned-TV sportscaster. Swoboda signed for fans, cheerfully remembering Shea Stadium as well as the days before he was a Met when he signed his autograph for an entirely different reason.

Swoboda also divulged to the local newspaper the two autographed baseballs he keeps in his collection–each of them most likely one-of-a-kind.
