Vintage Signed Baseballs Highlight Premier Auction
Premier Auctions’ latest sale includes an array of single-signed baseballs from some of the biggest names in history.
They may not gather the national press that some of their competitors do, but Premier Auctions of Scottsdale, Arizona has worked hard to gather a pretty impressive group of items for their summer auction.
The sale of several hundred pieces of sports memorabilia includes a late 1920s Babe Ruth single-signed baseball and a Jimmie Foxx solo as well.
Premier also offers a Ruth-autographed "mini baseball" dating from the final months of the Babe’s life as well as signed balls from Jackie Robinson, Thurman Munson and a "Best Wishes" salutation from Roberto Clemente. The Clemente ball was a gift from a family friend to an 11 year-old fan suffering from aplastic anemia in 1972, the final year of Clemente’s life. 35 years later, the now-healthy fan has consigned the ball for this auction.
A "Triple Crown winners" baseball, autographed by Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski and Frank Robinson, a 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers World Champions team signed ball and several game-used bats and jerseys are also among the items in the Premier catalog.
Autographed items from football, baseball, basketball, hockey and boxing are also available. Bidding concludes Thursday August 16.
