T206 Eddie Plank Sells for $40K +

Competition for some of the hobby's rarest vintage cards shows no sign of slowing down.

A rare T206 Eddie Plank card sold in Goodwin & Company's "Masterpieces & Uncommon Commons" auction Wednesday night, but not before the high bid reached $34,128. Tacking on a 17.5% buyer's premium, the selling price was $40,100.40.

Another Plank will be available in Barry Sloate's upcoming auction.
