It's official. As one of its greatest seasons plays out, Fighting Irish fans and football card collectors can make plans for Upper Deck Notre Dame Football. While it’s not yet certain when the 24-pack boxes will hit store shelves, the timing couldn’t be
much better. The Irish have recaptured some of that past magic this season, sporting a 12-0 record as they prepare for the BCS National Championship game.
It’s the latest in a line of collegiate card sets utilizing Upper Deck’s exclusive collegiate licensing deals.
Notre Dame Football will feature Irish greats from the 1920s to the current era. Speaking of era—er—Ara—you can bet coach Parseghian will be among those in the 100-card base set. Twenty all-time greats will be there along with a 20-card ‘Golden Dome Glory’ subset.
Some big names from the school’s past have signed for the product including Paul Hornung, Joe Theismann, Jerome Bettis, Rocky Bleier, Daryle Lamonica, Tim Brown, Ricky Watters and coach Lou Holtz and current coach Brian Kelly. Even Mike Golic, a former standout defensive lineman and current host of ESPN’s Mike & Mike in the Morning, will have signed cards in the boxes.
Each box will contain one autograph and two light F/X Irish Icons cards. There are several insert sets as well highlighting national championship team members and all-time great alumni.
The product will also be sold at the retail level with each blaster box containing an exclusive mini-pennant highlighting one of the school’s 11 national championships.
