Don't throw away those wrappers.
Entering the second full month of the baseball season, Upper Deck is teaming up with Major League Baseball, the programs co-sponsor, to announce a new MLB hobby wrapper redemption program, titled “Rookie Card of the Month”.
The program will entice collectors to purchase 2007 Upper Deck and Fleer Baseball and to exchange the card wrappers for a new exclusive rookie card set – one per month of the season. The “Rookie of the Month” baseball card set features 6 unique cards based on those handpicked by MLB each month. The “Rookie of the Month” cards will be sent to hobby shops each month where collectors can redeem their wrappers.
"This is a great way for us to deliver baseball’s most exciting young prospects with an exclusive rookie card offering,” said Upper Deck senior sports marketing manager Kerri Stockholm. “Working with Major League Baseball, we are very proud to announce Daisuke Matsuzaka as the April, 2007 ‘Rookie Card of the Month’ for both his impressive pitching with the Red Sox and the equally impressive performance of his first licensed trading cards,” Stockholm continued.
In order to obtain cards of the “Rookie of the Month” baseball set, collectors must exchange five wrappers of any 2007 Upper Deck or Fleer product to receive each month’s card. Wrappers can be redeemed at participating US hobby stores.
Stockholm adds, the selected cards for the first two months, April and May, will be sent directly to hobby shops in early June. The June “Rookie Card of the Month” will be sent in early July, the July card in early August, and so on. Hobby shops will distribute directly to the collector upon redemption of the appropriate wrappers. In addition, to the “Rookie Card of the Month” program hobby shops will be sent promotional posters and counter cards to help market the campaign.
