On the heels of a reported record contract with the Chicago White Sox, Cuban slugger Jose Abreu has signed an autograph deal with Topps.
Abreu will have autograph cards in a number of Bowman/Topps products next year, starting with 2014 Bowman Baseball.
Abreu racked up incredible numbers while in Cuba’s national league and some are naturally comparing him to fellow Cuban standouts Yoenis Cespedes and Yasiel Puig. He has reportedly agreed to a six-year $68 million deal with the Sox.
Leaf Trading Cards is also touting Abreu’s autographs in its 2013 Metal Draft Baseball product which was recently released. Redemption cards have been bringing $75-100 on eBay.
Abreu’s Bowman autographs will appear when the product is released in April 2014. You can learn more about the Topps/Abreu deal via ESPN below.
