ESPN will barely be off the air when Topps begins its efforts to bring the first 2011 football cards to market this spring. The company has announced plans for a new product called Rising Rookies, set to hit the shelves in May.
Rising Rookies will carry ten cards per pack and have an SRP of $4 per pack. Topps is promising the 24-count boxes will contain four hits including a minimum of two autographed cards. The product is rookie focused with four new draftees per pack along with one rookie parallel and five other cards. Each box will contain 21 inserts.
Hobby exclusive boxes will include on-card rookie autograph NFL shield and draft logo patch cards, autographed jumbo relic patch cards, autographed patch cars and 1-1 printing plates and rookie parallels.
The set will include a total of 100 rookie cards plus 25 rookie variation single prints.
