2017 Topps Opening Day baseball will mark the low cost product’s return when it premiers on March 15. Directed primarily at kids and collectors on a budget, Opening Day is primarily a set collector’s issue that offers a cheap way to enjoy collecting.
Boxes will consist of 36 packs with seven cards per pack: six base cards and one insert, at an expected retail price of around $25-30 per box.
The base set will include 200 cards including some players who won’t make their debut in the flagship set until Series 2. Opening Day Edition base set parallels will be numbered to 2017. There will also be 1/1 versions and 1/1 printing plates.
There will be eight different insert sets in all. The roster includes Opening Day Stars which will be sticker cards of some of the bigger stars; National Anthem which captures images from the playing of the Star Spangled Banner; Stadium Signatures, a set focused on images of fans collecting player autographs at the ballpark; Opening Day which showcases memorable photos from the first day of the season; Bobbleheads, focused on some of the bobblehead giveaways at big league ballparks in 2016; Incredible Eats, which features some of the more unusual food items sold at stadiums; Superstar Celebrations which feature players after big moments and the annual Mascots set also returns.
2017 Topps Opening Day baseball is set for release the week of March 17.
