The good old days weren’t always good for the Detroit Tigers. But at least the trading cards and memorabilia were cheap. Now, it’s a pricey proposition to bring autograph guests to area card shops.

Pudge Rodgriguez and Gary Sheffield make more money signing autographs for two hours than a lot of us do in a year. Yet fans still seem willing to line up in Detroit–even for the non-superstars.

The team’s improbable rise to American League champs last season has turned the Tigers into a hot ticket.
