The "Hobby Shop Makeover" contest sponsored by the NBA includes 32 finalists. One is a Grapevine, Texas sports card dealer who's hoping to be rewarded for his perserverance.
Scott Pierce owns SMP Cards, a place with truly humble beginnings.
"I started in the back of a gas station in Southlake with $200 in my pocket," he tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
19 years later, he's still at it in a slightly larger location but he could use the $10,000 first prize in the contest being run by the NBA and Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
