What happened to Steve McNair over the weekend gave sudden death a whole new meaning.

Steve McNair’s life ended with gunshots as he sat on a condominium couch last weekend.

His brutal murder was a bizarre and unexpected end to the life of a popular NFL veteran. McNair had plenty of fans, even if he was rarely a hot player in the collectibles market.

Now, though, Tennessee sports card shops are fielding inquiries from collectors and others who followed his career.

There were over 4,000 McNair items for sale on eBay as of early Tuesday morning. Autographs were selling briskly for between $200 and $300.
