Sun-Times Show Info

A who’s who of Hall of Famers and stars past and present will be in Chicago this weekend for the Sun-Times sports card show.

Get your credit card and your want list out. The 35th Chicago Sun-Times Sports Collectibles Convention returns to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center starting Friday.

Dealers from across the country will return to a city most say is the best in the country for buying and selling baseball cards and sports memorabilia for the three-day event.

Dreams, Inc., which purchased the show from long-time promoter George Johnson, offers up an impressive lineup of autograph guests for those who don’t mind standing in line.

Friday’s guests include Chicago Bears past and present. Dick Butkus, Brian Urlacher (higher priced autograph than Butkus), Bernard Berrian and Greg Olsen will sandwich red-hot Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings.

On Saturday, Butkus returns, along with Pro Football Hall of Famers Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Gale Sayers, Len Dawson, Marcus Allen and Thurman Thomas. Baseball representatives include Jim Thome, Hanley Ramirez and Frank Thomas.

Sunday’s guest lineup features John Elway, Tony Gwynn, Carlton Fisk, Tom Glavine, Reggie Jackson, Ryne Sandberg, Prince Fielder, Frank Viola, Billy Williams and Howard Johnson. Juan Marichal was scheduled to appear, but cancelled.
