Oscar Soule may be aligned with the Seattle Mariners, but his passion for baseball--and collecting--started in St. Louis over 60 years ago.
Like a lot of kids, he kept an autograph book with signatures from big league players he tracked down at the ballpark. Unlike a lot of those autographs, Oscar Soule's book survived his passage into adulthood.
Since 1947, Soule has been collecting baseball memorabilia and cards, but first and foremost, he's a fan.
"There are people who know more about baseball," Soule said. "But I don't know if there's anyone who enjoys it more than I do," he said.
He's a Mariners season ticket holder who eats, sleeps and breathes baseball from his giant Ken Griffey Jr advertising piece to his collection of baseball cards, neatly stored in the basement.
The local paper caught up with the man selected as the Mariners' fan of the year.
