ImageA new website hopes to bring the signed baseball into focus.

Autographed baseballs can carry the signatures of deceased Hall of Famers, big-time current stars, teams or even U.S. Presidents. It's a practice that dates back to the early 20th century that shows no sign of slowing in popularity.

Now, a new website hopes to capitalize on the continued popularity of the signed ball by creating a quick and easy link to sellers of signed balls while providing information about the hobby. Newly-launched Signature Baseballs brings the hand-signed baseball to the stage.

Baseballs are among the most popular items current and former players are asked to sign thanks to the white surface, the ease of handling and the quality of display once the deed is done. Fans collect single-signed balls from Hall of Famers, current players or specific teams or events like an All-Star game or World Series.

Collectors can use the site's "shop by team" feature or browse through hundreds of signed baseballs available at any one time with bidding available directly on eBay from links on the site. There are also links to baseballs and other sports memorabilia available through two other giants in the online shopping industry, Amazon.com and Upper Deck Authenticated.

Signature Baseballs also offers tips for novice collectors such as how to determine if your autographed baseball is real, how to preserve and display your signed ball, ways to build a meaningful collection and why Babe Ruth is still king among autographed baseball collectors. A list of the top ten most valuable signed baseballs is also presented as well as a list of authenticators, links to sports collecting information websites and other sports autograph sites.
