It involves a famous restaurant, a well-known actor, a theft plot and the FBI.

The ten year-old story of a T206 Honus Wagner card makes for great reading and now one of the more famous copies of the 'holy grail' is going to be sold.

The owner of the card with the Hollywood story to match has consigned it to Robert Edward Auctions for next spring's annual catalog auction. If you like a little sizzle with your cardboard--and have the means--this one is for you. The story is a llittle complicated, but spelled out via the REA blog. It's worth a read--both for the subject matter and the take on Wagner cards as a sports memorabilia investment.

For being such an elusive card for even the most serious (and wealthy) collectors, the T206 Honus Wagner has been in the news a lot lately. From the two sales of the PSA 8 last year to the release of book The Card to the recent auction of a PSA 5 for $1.62 million, it's gotten more attention than Brittany Spears.

Oh, and then there's ESPN diving head first into the purported Wagner two guys have been trying unsuccessfully to sell. Regardless of your opinion, it's good for the hobby to be in the news --especially when some card shops and other sports memorabilia businesses are strugglilng.
