Spectrum Will Hold Memorabilia Auction

Dr. J’s locker anyone?

Add the Spectrum in Philadelphia to the list of aging sports facilities going the auction route.

The arena that has been home to the Philadelphia 76ers and Flyers since the late 1960s, is in its final year of operation. The building will be torn down and replaced with an entertainment and shopping venue, but not before owners Comcast-Spectacor remove anything that might be of value to collectors or fans with a sentimental side.

No details have been released and there are several more events still scheduled for the building, which saw its last basketball game a few weeks ago.

However, a company spokesman says you can expect lockers, seats and the basketball floor to be among the most popular items when the auction takes place.
