This weekend at the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel and Conference Center, those who collect signed Sports Illustrated covers will be in their element.
The two-day show gives exposure to the popular hobby of collecting autographs on the sports world’s most popular magazine. Dating back to the summer of 1954, when Eddie Mathews first appeared, hundreds of subjects have graced the front, some of them multiple times.
MAB will bring in more than two dozen guests, signing at prices from $29 and up. Reggie Jackson, Willie Mays, Lou Brock, Yogi Berra, Bob Gibson and Dwight Clark are some of the signers, which also include jockeys and gymnasts.
The New York Daily News got the story of how the show was born–and a little insight on the magazine’s long history.
