If you’ve been holding Russell Westbrook rookie cards, your patience is now paying off. With the Oklahoma City Thunder soaring under coach Billy Donovan, Westbrook cards have been flying high too.
Below is a sampling of some of his rookie cards–autographed and non-autographed and at the bottom a list of which cards are getting the most action on eBay.
NBA fans think of how he uses his speed and athleticism to get to the basket and how he can elevate for the finish. His Chrome rookie shows all those abilities as he soars in for a dunk. Getting the Chrome rookie of Westbrook is easy, but there are also six parallel Refractors cards which are much harder to find.
With this one, a collector can have a Westbrook rookie with a futuristic design, a silver autograph signed on a black background, a big jersey piece forming the number “2008” on a card numbered to 99.
Numbered to 225, Westbrook’s most popular and most transacted rookie card has a picture of him in the top left of the card with a jersey patch in the middle and an on-card autograph along the bottom.
2007-08 Finest Auto Refractor #104
Finest rookie cards are usually among a player’s best and the colored parallel refractors are among the most popular. This is one of a couple of Westbrook cards that actually carry a 2007 date.
This card, along with its four types of numbered parallels, reminds fans that it was Seattle and not Oklahoma City that drafted Westbrook. The picture has Westbrook in a suit, wearing a Sonics hat and holding a Seattle basketball.
The card can be found for a very reasonable price, but those looking for something more rare from that same set can search for his 2008-09 Topps Treasury Rookie Autographs Refractors Bronze #124 which is numbered to 50 and can sell for around $100. On that card the picture on the front shows him holding a Seattle jersey, which he never wore as they relocated to OKC and became the Thunder.
With a price tag of over $300, his SP Authentic is one of Westbrook’s more expensive rookie cards. Numbered to 299, it has an autograph in blue and an interesting piece of jersey from the Rookie Photo Shoot.
2008-09 Upper Deck Lineage #204
Upper Deck Lineage used card designs inspired by their products from the early 1990s. For a small investment, a collector can get a Westbrook rookie that looks similar to the 1992-93 rookie cards of Anthony Peeler, Todd Day and Shaq. Upper Deck Lineage also has Westbrook cards using old Rookie Standouts and Upper Deck SE card designs.
2008-09 SP Rookie Threads #67
A very busy card as collectors get a couple of pictures of Westbrook on the front of the card along with an autograph signed on top of a piece of jersey.
