Royals’ Farm Club Holds Auction for Shooting Victims

The Omaha Royals, AAA affiliate of the Kansas City Royals have launched an online auction to raise money for the victims of the recent shopping mall killings in the city of Omaha.

The online auction items include an Alex Gordon game-worn, autographed jersey, as well as a bat and baseball signed by the Kansas City Royals third baseman. A pair of Gordon bobble heads, a Billy Butler autographed baseball, and a Rosenblatt Stadium suite for a 2008 game will also be up for bid.

"In light of the recent tragedy, the Royals wish to do our small part to benefit the victims and their families," said Royals General Manager Martie Cordaro. "We hope the fans will come out to Rosenblatt Stadium this weekend to view the items up for bid."

The Omaha Royals also recently assisted in an online auction at, acquiring auction items from the Kansas City Royals, including a George Brett autographed bat, a baseball autographed by Gordon and a bat and baseball signed by Butler.

All of the proceeds from the Royals’ online auction at will go to the Von Maur Victims Fund being administered by the United Way of the Midlands. The auction will run through Thursday, December 20th, on the club’s website. The auction items will be on display at the Royals Holiday Sale at Rosenblatt Stadium on Saturday, December 15th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 16th from noon to 3:00 p.m.
