Robinson Jersey Tops Slugger Sale
A collector in Hong Kong surrendered that 1948 Jackie Robinson game-worn jersey to the Louisville Slugger Auction. It has a new, anonymous home.
There was no shortage of vintage baseball memorabilia in Hunt Auctions’ annual event at the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum Saturday. Hundreds of vintage baseball cards, game-used bats, jerseys and other pieces of history were on the block.
The one item that towered above the rest, though, was a 1948 Brooklyn Dodgers jersey once worn by Jackie Robinson. Bidding stopped at $325,000–plus the buyer’s premium.
We don’t know yet who bought it, but the auction always attracts dealers, authenticators, big-time collectors and even those just looking for a piece to add to their rec room.
If you can ignore the reference to Jackie "Robertson",the Louisville Courier-Journal offers coverage.
