For those of you have been following the progress of our brand new show in Plano, TX, here is our last update before the doors open Sunday, March 9. We did catch a break in that there was actually an ice storm (not too severe) last weekend which is why I never ask for any dealer money up front. You never know in Dallas in March. We had 80 degrees on Saturday and an ice storm on Sunday. Weather should be good this weekend.
First off, our 20 dealer tables are sold out and we even have a mini corporate area with Beckett. The more dealers we have, the more variety will be available on the floor and I’m thrilled that so many expressed excitement about what we’re doing. There will no doubt be some hiccups, but I promise, this will be a great show for a variety of reasons.
Here’s where it all happens Sunday from 9-4:
6300 Independence Pkwy
Our board members have been a big help and will assist us with set up and break down on Sunday, man the refreshment table, run the admission table and have people available for help all day, roving around the room to help the dealers and the collectors.
As I’ve mentioned, we’ve had great cooperation from card manufacturers and other hobby businesses and will have more door prizes than your average show.
Here is a preliminary schedule of door prizes — This is subject to some changes in terms of time but the prizes are guaranteed
2014 Topps Turkey Red Baseball Unopened Box
Tri-Star Dwight Howard Autograph 8 x 10
2011 Topps USA Baseball Hobby Factory Set
2012 Topps “All-Star” Baseball Factory set
We’re happy to add to this list, even at this late day.
We also received a great box of free cards from Blowout Cards poster “John Ryno” from Baltimore, MD who was nice enough to send us a 13-pound box of cards. I went through the box and noted cards valued up to $5 or more. Great donation! We’ll take those too. We’ll have free cards for the kids, and tons of them.
We have received requests to have case breaks as part of our show and since we have the room: For a donation, anyone who wishes to do case breaks is welcome to do so.
Beckett Grading will have a presence at our show, and the new Beckett Auction Services will be there too. BGS Likes to know if you are bringing cards so if you know are you please contact Mike Simmons MSimmons@Beckett.com. Bill Sutherland is your point person for Beckett Auction Services (BSutherland@Beckett.com). Please note the March Grading Specials have not yet been released but if you contact Mike he can assist you with the best possible in person offer.
We have commitments for all our tables — however, there is a waiting list being built. Please let me know if you are interested. A rarity in today’s world…a waiting list for dealer tables.
In addition, free with your suggested donation of $1 is not only a door prize ticket but also an Upper Deck Hockey Card Day uncut sheet and then packs. We presume we will have enough for everyone. If not, we’ll come up with other items to guarantee no one walks out empty handed…kids or adults.
Almost all of the money we raise will be used for our community goals including sending our kids to summer camp. Our website is PlanoCardShow.com.
Hope to see you Sunday!
