Rhode Island Promoter Nuts About Baseball, Collecting

Tom McDonough went to his first baseball card show during the Nixon administration. He’s worked in and around baseball for almost as long and the Cranston, Rhode Island shows have had his stamp on them for thirty years.

It wasn’t something grown men admitted to back in the 1960s and early 70s. But collecting baseball cards was one of those addictions Tom McDonough couldn’t let go of.

Since he picked up a stack of 1953 Topps way back when, he’s gotten to know Major League general managers, been chewed out by Thurman Munson and had a whale of a time just talking baseball.

The story–along with some photos of his collection and an audio clip from the Providence Journal.
