Retirement Leaves Sports Card Store Gap in Washington

One of the few remaining shops north of Seattle is closing its doors.

It’s not the biggest sports card store in the country and certainly not the most profitable but Grama’s Sports Cards in Bellingham, Washington has been in business for over a decade. That era is about to come to an end.

Owner Jack Terry is retiring and wasn’t able to find a buyer for his shop north of Seattle. Active in the hobby for over 50 years, he stayed afloat thanks to personal service and the infusion of energy that came with the arrival of one Mariners’ icon in 2001.

His is one of a declining number of shops in the area. He told the local newspaper, he’s discouraged by some things, but isn’t totally giving up on the hobby’s future.
