The most talked about rookie of the 2012 NFL Draft, Andrew Luck, has signed an agreement with Press Pass for “draft pick” trading cards. Under terms of the agreement, Press Pass Rookie Football, Press Pass FanFare Football, and Press Pass Showcase Football will be the only non-NFL licensed football cards to contain authentic autograph cards and trading cards of the player draft guru Mel Kiper calls “the best quarterback I’ve graded in the 35 years I’ve been doing this.”
“We are honored to be working with Andrew Luck,” said Tom Farrell, VP of Brand Management for Press Pass. “And we’re excited to offer collectors the first autograph cards, memorabilia cards, and base cards of the predicted #1 pick in the 2012 draft.”
2012 Press Pass Rookie Football will be the first product to feature authentic on-card autographs of the Stanford star and the other top stars of this year’s upcoming rookie class.
Each box of Rookie Football delivers 6 on-card signatures including Luck, Robert Griffin III, Trent Richardson, Michael Floyd, Justin Blackmon, Ryan Tannehill, and LaMichael James. Press Pass Rookie Football is scheduled for a March 21 release.
2012 Press Pass FanFare Football, new for 2012, will deliver an autograph card in every pack and the base autos feature a high-end “chromium” technology. FanFare Football is slated for a May 9th release. Also making its debut in the football product lineup is 2012 Press Pass Showcase Football. Showcase Football is slated for an early June release and will be a hobby-only product.
“Andrew Luck is one of the most anticipated and highly touted draft prospects in NFL history. He takes pride in his reputation, and Press Pass is proud to have the opportunity to work with him. We look forward to delivering superior collectibles that reflect Andrew’s high standards,” explained Farrell.
The announcement comes on the heels of another record-breaking season for Luck. Andrew led his Stanford team to an 11-2 season, a berth in the Fiesta Bowl, and a #7 AP Poll ranking. Luck broke numerous school records including career touchdowns with 82; breaking the previous record of 77 held by John Elway. School records for touchdown passes in a season (37), total offense (10,287 yards), wins by a starting quarterback (31), and Pac-12 records for career passing efficiency (162.8) and career completion percentage (67%) were all set by the superstar. Luck also added several pieces of hardware to his trophy case in 2011 by capturing the prestigious Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.
Press Pass Rookie Football will feature 20 boxes per case, 30 packs per box and five cards per pack.
