Postage Series to Honor Two New Hall of Famers

Put ’em on the wall or put ’em on the letter to cousin Jimmy. Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn will soon appear on commemorative stamps you can actually use.

You no longer have to wait to be knighted by the US Postal Service to get your own stamp. Better yet, you don’t have to be dead.

Premier Postage has announced the introduction of limited edition, commemorative customized postage sheets of newly elected baseball Hall of Famers Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn.

The sheets are designed as a baseball collectible but also available to be used on envelopes and mailed through the US Postal Service, although using them will cost a bit more than 41 cents.

The fully-licensed, exclusive 10-count sheets retail for $24.99 each and will not be reprinted once the 15,000 available sheets are sold out. In addition, framed customized postage sheets will be available in autographed and non-autographed versions.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to launch our Major League Baseball postage products than to honor the incredible careers of these baseball legends,” said Mike Samora, Founder and President of Premier Postage.

Ripken, a two-time Most Valuable Player and 19-time All-Star over his 21-year career, set the major-league mark of 2,632 consecutive games played. Gwynn, an eight-time batting champion, closed out his 20-year career with 3,141 hits and a lifetime batting average of .338. Both were elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in January in their first year of eligibility.

“This is really quite an honor,” said Gwynn. “Lots of guys have had their pictures on trading cards, but very few players have ever been featured on their own postage before. What’s great is fans can collect or use them to send letters.”

The first printed Ripken and Gwynn Hall of Fame postage sheets will be autographed and auctioned off for charity on beginning May 30, 2007. Proceeds from the Ripken postage sheet will benefit the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation while proceeds from the Gwynn postage sheet will benefit the TAG Foundation.

In addition to the Ripken and Gwynn Hall of Fame sheets, a full line of licensed customized postage sheets highlighting all 30 Major League Baseball teams will be available on and

Premier Postage is able to offer these licensed products to fans and consumers as a result of the expanded Customized Postage Program from the United States Postal Service. Premier Postage has teamed up with mailstream technology leader Pitney Bowes, an authorized Customized Postage Provider, to introduce these products. Together, the companies plan to leverage each others’ strengths to build an exciting new postage collectibles category.

The entire collection is also available through Ironclad Authentics, LLC.
