Police: Maine Shop Owner Attacked in Robbery Attempt

The owner of a Portland, ME sports card shop is recovering after a physical altercation inside his shop on Monday morning.

Police say they were called to Don’s Baseball Card Center around 10:45 when the owner reported a robbery. He told officers that the suspect entered the business and Portland MEthreatened him. The victim struggled with the suspect believing he was being robbed and was hit on the head several times by the suspect. The man left the store without taking anything. The shop owner sustained several non-life threatening lacerations to his head.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30’s, approximately 5’10” in height, weighing 150 to 180 pounds, with brown hair, wearing a light colored shirt and jeans. He was seen leaving the area in an older model, gray in color, Subaru Legacy station wagon with a roof rack, bearing partial Maine registration 774 Y. The Subaru was being operated by a white female with dirty blonde hair; tied in a ponytail. The car was last seen traveling inbound on Brighton Avenue.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Portland Police Department at 207-874-8533.
