Sentiment apparently runs deep for Yankee Stadium. One player bought his old locker for big bucks, while other players have honed in on different pieces from the past.

It appears as if buying Yankee Stadium from the city of New York will be a very good deal indeed for Steiner Sports.

The company has already cracked the eight-figure mark in sales and the big ticket auction items have yet to be sold.

Interest in the auction is coming from all angles: collectors, fans, investors, celebrities, politicians and plenty of former players. Forking over thousands of dollars for seats from the old ballpark is an everyday occurrence.

"It’s amazing how many players have come back and bought seats. Guys from the last 20-30 years," says Brandon Steiner, the company’s CEO.

Some items are for sale, while others will go to the highest bidder and according to USA Today, it seems at least one well-known player has already made a major purchase.
