Pirates Pack ’em in at Fan Fest

You know it’s still winter when Pirates fans are optimistic. A boatload of them turned out for the team’s Fan Fest over the weekend which included a card show and player autographs.

It’s true. The Pittsburgh Pirates, who haven’t tasted the post-season since Sid Bream was on your fantasy team, had a winning record during the second half of the 2006 season.

Blinded by optimism and jazzed about Adam LaRoche taking coming over from the Braves (hey, you’ve gotta be excited about something) , nearly 16,000 packed the Lawrence Convention Center to snap up memorabilia, cards, autographs and the optimism of the team’s braintrust.
