Panini Offers Look at Prestige Football, Set for Slightly Later Release in ’13

Panini announced Friday that next season’s NFL kickoff product will be Score Football, which will be out several weeks before the start of training camp.  2013 Panini Prestige will follow in late June rather than be first to the shelves.

Panini is promising this year’s Prestige line will include four autograph or memorabilia cards (two autos guaranteed) per hobby box, 24 rookie cards along with several different inserts or parallels.   Suggested retail pack price is $4.RG III Panini Prestige 2013

Panini Prestige 2013 Colin KaepernickThe company says rookie cards of the April draftees will showcase photos taken at the NFL Rookie Premiere weeks earlier, making it the first set to include images of first year players in their NFL uniforms.

Prestige will have three different on-card autograph sets from the incoming draft class.

According to Panini, boxes will also have three Prestigious Picks, three NFL Draft Picks, three NFL Draft Tickets, three NFL Draft City Destinations, three NFL Passports and three additional parallels.

You can catch a sneak peek at what some of the cards will look like below, but unfortunately it looks like the 2013 draft class penmanship isn’t any better than others of recent vintage.  We see Alabama running back Eddie Lacy who apparently signs only his initials and USC quarterback Matt Barkley, whose signature is reminiscent of ancient hieroglyphics.

Other highlights of 2013 Prestige Football are many and include:

  • Four different die-cut acetate insert sets (NFL Shield, Stars of the NFLInside the Numbers and Fantasy Team) seeded two per box
  • Limited Rookie Card Signature Extra Point parallels inserted one per box
  • Two micro-etched Inserts featuring the 2013 Rookie Class (Prestigious Picks and NFL Draft Picks) seeded six per box
