OJ Case Giving Hobby a Bad Name?
Thanks to the Simpson case, some media outlets paint the sports collecting hobby with a broad brush. It’s frustrating for those who make their living in the business.
The term got tossed around in news outlets from Maui to Manhattan. "Sports memorabilia collectors" were trying to sell items belonging to O.J. Simpson. Never mind these weren’t exactly your typical collectors. It was another slap in the face to those who love to think hobbyists are a bunch of geeks. Well, maybe we are. But in a good way.
Some auction houses and the FBI man behind Operation Bullpen tried their best to tell the Associated Press that things aren’t as weird as they seem.
