Ohio Card Shop Destroyed By Fire

Born the same year as Upper Deck, it had withstood the business challenges of an ever-changing industry and economic downturns.   Fire was a different matter.

Medina Sports Cards in Medina, Ohio was destroyed Thursday night when fire ripped through the shop long after the business day had ended.

Over three dozen firefighters, who happened to be training at that hour, responded to the call, but the fast-moving blaze had already chewed up the shop’s inventory.

Owner Bill Panchak started the store with part of his childhood collection 22 years ago.  The store carried non-sports card games and other memorabilia as well as sports cards.

Unfortunately, while no one was injured, two pets were lost in the blaze, according to the Medina Gazette, which has more on the fire and Panchak’s future plans.
