New Goff Calendar Features Post Season Artwork

It’s artwork you can afford. The Fall Classic Hallowed Ground calendar is out with 13 scenes depicting great old ballparks in their fall splendor.

The baseball art calendars from Bill Goff Inc/Goodsportsart.com studios have been popular with fans, collectors and even Major League executives since their introduction in 1992, but the 2008 edition will focus exclusively on historic post-season play from some of America’s classic Major League ballparks.

The just-released calendars include thirteen pieces of artwork in the familiar 11”x17” format, all depicting moments from memorable October moments. Among the featured artists are Andy Jurinko, Bruce Becker, Bill Purdom, Thomas Kolendra and William Feldman.

Included in the calendar’s pages are scenes from the 1948 World Series in Braves Field, Boston (now the athletic field at Boston University); Game Seven of the 1985 World Series in Kansas City, Game Five at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia a scene from Sportsman’s Park, St. Louis in the 1946 World Series, “Outside Wrigley Field,” portraying the classic park decked out for the 1945 World Series, a full house in Cleveland Municipal Stadium for the 1948 World Series, special centerfold Willie Mays’s famous catch over his shoulder in the 1954 World Series at the Polo Grounds and “Subway Series Longing,” featuring Game 7 of the 1956 World Series in Ebbets Field.

Bill Mazeroski’s historic home run in Forbes Field in the final at bat of the 1960 World Series is featured as well as “Pinstripes Classic Comeback,” showing the scene as the final out is to be recorded in the 1996 World Series at Yankee Stadium, “Classic Fenway Clout,” showcasing Carlton Fisk’s memorable home run in the 1975 World Series, “Classic Chavez Clout,” portraying Kirk Gibson’s famous 1988 World Series home run, and “County Stadium Classic,” showing Game 5 of the 1957 World Series.

“Pinstripes Classic Comeback,” the featured painting for September, is especially meaningful as the Yankees play their final game on the current site of Yankee Stadium before moving across the street into a new Yankee Stadium for 2009.

The 2008 edition of Hallowed Ground is available at goodsportsart.com for $17 plus $6 shipping and handling, or by calling 1-800-321-GOFF.
