The Philadelphia Phillies are the oldest continuous one-city, one-nickname franchise in sports, and few teams enjoy as rich a history and as deep a connection with their fans. From their first game in 1883 through the team’s back-to-back trips to the World Series in 2008 and 2009, the Phillies have earned a special place in baseball history and cultivated a passionate relationship with fans near and far.
Phillies: An Extraordinary Tradition is a celebration of over 125 years of Phillies baseball. The commemorative book, scheduled for release next week, provides a window through time, showcasing the Phillies’ historic faces and places that comprise their legacy. More than 400 photos and rare pieces of Phillies memorabilia are used as inserts in the book including some high quality reproductions of game tickets, program covers, and collectible art cards, dating back decades.
MLB.com has more on the book, which gets an assist from collectors who contributed some of the items that were painstakingly reproduced.
