More Championship Rings Entering Market
The economy is apparently driving some athletes to sell off their bling.
Not every pro athlete enters and leaves his sport a millionaire. Some last just long enough to taste the glory of a Super Bowl win, a World Series title or NBA championship.
College athletes sometimes believe that while the ring is nice, they’d rather have the cash. Many just need it.
Says one dealer: "If they are totally desperate and their family needs to have food on the table or bills that need to be paid or things like that, jewelry and cars and houses may be the first things that go."
The economy isn’t helping and this report from CNN Money indicates that the number of championship rings entering the memorabilia market is on the rise. There are no shortage of buyers either.
