This NHL season has brought a new crop of talented young rookie stars to the league and Upper Deck is highlighting the new class with its 2007-08 NHL Black Diamond hockey cards.
Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane are giving Blackhawk fans hope while Carey Price (Canadiens), Nicklas Backstrom (Capitals), Marc Staal (Rangers), Sam Gagner (Oilers) and Jack Johnson (Kings) are other top freshman leading the list of top rookies to find in the 2007-08 Upper Deck Black Diamond card launch.
Collectors can anticipate finding four “Rookie Gem” cards, six “Triple Diamond” cards, two “Quad Diamond” cards and two “Black Diamond” jersey cards per box on average. Upper Deck says collectors should "be on the lookout for rare Ruby, Black and Gold parallel cards of the entire set along with the return of “Gemography” autograph cards."
The popular ‘Run for the Cup’ insert set is also back, but you'll need a lot of luck to find one. The cards will average just one card per hobby case on average.
“The outstanding content in Black Diamond Hockey really cannot be rivaled for the price collectors are paying,” said Karvin Cheung, UD Hockey Product Manager. “There is a lot of history with the ‘Run for the Cup’ cards and collectors have shared with us in focus groups that they are very excited about it. Additionally, the Gemography autograph set includes impressive names like Mario Lemieux, Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin, Dominik Hasek, Evgeni Malkin and more.”
Upper Deck’s 2007-08 NHL Black Diamond carries a suggested retail price of $3.99 per five-card pack and the product is hitting store shelves this week.
