Collecting sports cards can be a profitable hobby. Especially when you may not be paying for your inventory.

A pair of so-far anonymous Bay County, Michigan men are prime suspects in the theft of several thousand dollars worth of stolen sports cards.

Police say they caught the creative duo walking out of a department/grocery store with unopened packs of all kinds, hidden in some very creative places and expect to find more elsewhere. The cops believe they were selling their ill-gotten booty to area card shops.

One good thing to come out of the sordid details? The whole thing proved to the skeptical local sheriff's officer quoted in the story that the hobby is not dead.
