Card companies have done just about everything but put DNA on their products lately. But the 'super premium' products have found a niche.

They're out of reach for most lower-budget collectors, but there are plenty of people who like the concept of wooden "packs" with glossy cards and superstar autographs and/or patches inside. Upper Deck, Donruss and Topps have all created premium products in recent years.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette paid a visit to a local shop and dished out some decent general knowlege to readers on the current fad.

"Every time I've thought there's a limit, we've blown past it," said Jeff Patton, owner of Baseball Card Castle.
