You'll see some old school designs with new school players in Upper Deck's latest baseball issue. The company also has another issue due out at the end of the month.
Upper Deck's latest baseball set hits stores today with the return of SP Rookie Edition. After working with focus groups, Upper Deck found collectors had a strong affection for the 1993, 1995 and 1996 set designs. Each rookie will have four different cards within the set including the designs from those three sets.
“This is one of those special years to be collecting baseball because so many rookies are making such a big impact," said Upper Deck Baseball Product Manager Gregg Kohn. "You have sluggers like Ryan Braun and Hunter Pence along with pitching sensations like Tim Lincecum and Upper Deck’s Exclusive Spokesman Daisuke Matsuzaka all performing well. The general consensus in the hobby is that this rookie class will be making a major impact for several years to come.”
Upper Deck says collectors will find an average of two autographs per 14-pack box and over 50 rookies (4 per pack on average) . Matsuzaka will also have 4 different signature cards included in the set.
SRP is $4.99 per 8-card pack.
