Donruss Playoff is teaming up with Frito-Lay to produce a football card set, available only in those 24-bag "family sacks". Three cards per box..25 cards per set..let's see... that's at least 216 bags of Doritos, Fritos, Lays and Ruffles. Come on. We know you can do it.
Donruss Playoff will be distributing 4,000,000 NFL football trading cards in select bags of Frito Lay Family Sacks starting this week. The "Back to School" promotion will run during the month of January (or while supplies last) in Wal-marts and select super markets across the country.
The 24-bag Frito Lay Family Sack carries a variety of smaller "grab" bags of chips from products such as Doritos, Cheetos, Lays and Ruffles. The Donruss name and three card images, will appear on all sales material including the actual bag and point of purchase displays.
"Frito Lay has one of the most established product brand names in the market place, so we are extremely excited to be partnering with them on this high-visible promotion," said Donruss Playoff Vice President Mike Anderson. "This product was created specifically for families and with Donruss Playoff being able to include trading cards, it's a creative way to directly reach kids."
Four cards are included in every pack, with one card promoting the official NFL Rush website. The NFL Rush website is designed for contests enabling kids to win NFL prizes, interact with School Smart activates and to play games. Kids can learn more about their favorite players, view player journals, read exclusive interviews and more.
The 25-card set was produced under the Donruss name and will feature official Rookie Cards of Reggie Bush, Vince Young and Matt Leinart. Other rookies featured in the set include AJ Hawk, DeAngelo Williams, Greg Jennings, Jay Cutler, and Laurence Maroney.
Collectors can find superstars Brett Favre, Ben Roethlisberger, Brian Urlacher, Cadillac Williams, Carson Palmer, Clinton Portis, Donovan McNabb, Eli Manning, LaDainian Tomlinson, Larry Johnson, Michael Vick, Peyton Manning, Ronnie Brown, Roy Williams (Cowboys), Shaun Alexander, Tom Brady and Troy Polamalu. Five Checklist cards were created to showcase some of the leagues top rookie combos including Matt Leinart/Vince Young, Leon Washington/Kellen Clemens, Matt Leinart/Reggie Bush, Maurice Jones-Drew/Marcedes Lewis and Matt Leinart/LenDale White/Reggie Bush.
Each player will have a base, Frito Lay version, with select cards having a chasing element to them to add to the collectibility. Some cards will feature parallel versions carrying the Doritos logo, with some cards having an even rarer Cheetos logo on them.
