Gretzky, LeMieux Shield Card Sells for $10K+

Eight bidders with money to burn pushed the price of a one-of-a-kind hockey card over the $10,000 mark with several days still to run in the eBay action but when the auction closed Sunday, the card stretched only slightly higher.

Final price was $10,700 with a total of 9 bids entered.

The card includes swatches of jerseys worn by two of hockey's all-time greats.

Beckett was retained to authenticate and auction the card for collector who pulled it from a pack. Beckett says the card is "being held in our secure vault."
