Michael Eisner will soon be running the show at Topps and he's already got big plans for the company--especially one of its iconic characters.
It was a long and sometimes bitter fight, but Topps shareholders turned their company over to some new blood several weeks ago.
Michael Eisner will soon be top dog at Topps and he didn't just buy the company to conduct business as usual. The former Disney CEO says he's going to leverage all kinds of media to utilize the familiar brand name and keep the card market growing.
"Cards were predominantly a kids product, which, over the last couple of decades, became a collectible product," Eisner told USA Today in an interview published in today's edition. "That's the tail wagging the dog. I hope they're collectible and that people love them and that they increase in value. But they've got to be fun. Some should be opened; they shouldn't just sit in their packs forever."
