One writer's lament on the disappearance of Diamond Kings from Donruss baseball products.

You won't find Donruss producing Major League Baseball cards again this year. MLB's decision a few years ago to allow only Topps and Upper Deck to produce sets was a disappointment to a lot of collectors.

Donruss made its mark in the hobby in the early 1980s and created a signature selling point with its artsy Diamond Kings subset. The DKs were available in the base set, but then insert-mania took over in the 1990s and that was the end of that.

Ben Henry of the Baseball Card Blog is still missing them.
