Now we know one reason why Upper Deck may have snapped up the Fleer brand name.

The Michael Jordan card gold mine.

Fleer will include Michael Jordan autographed rookie cards as inserts this season Fleer's 2007 basketball packs will contain the ultimate insert-- autographed Michael Jordan rookie cards.

Upper Deck said Wednesday it had purchased an unannounced quantity of Jordan's 1986-87 Fleer cards and had them signed by the company's long-time client. Upper Deck purchased the Fleer brand name after the latter company's demise.

The set is scheduled to be released in early 2007. But hmm...aren't top quality rookie cards better left unsigned--even if the signature is MJ's?
