The 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie cards placed into this year's basketball product are showing up on eBay..while another lot has Jordan collectors bidding big bucks for a unique lot.
Upper Deck's purchase of Fleer and the company's relationship with Michael Jordan helped foster a special insert program for this season's cards. UD bought some MJ rookies and had them autographed for distribution in packs of the current season's product.
One card just brought over $12,000 on eBay.
The ‘buy back’ cards were previously released in the original 1986/87 Fleer Basketball set and were recently purchased by Upper Deck and then signed by Jordan.
But that price is chump change compared to the group of 23 MJ insert cards--all numbered 23--that is currently attracting a lot of interest among the modern sports card fanatics. The lot is at $16,000 with a few days still remaining in the auction.
