The 2009 Mother’s Day pink bats, many game-used are up for bid in a Major League Baseball charity auction.
Dozens of game-used and autographed Louisville Slugger pink-colored bats have hit the auction block.
MLB Auctions has accumulated an impressive array of bats, many of them used in games during the annual Major League Baseball celebration of Mother’s Day. Proceeds from the sale of the bats will go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation.
The May 10 event began in 2006 and has grown each year with more players choosing to swing pink lumber for at least one at-bat.
Not all of the bats saw game action and don’t include the "game used" notation in the listing.
Tops on the bid list as of early Friday morning was an autographed Derek Jeter model which stood at $650 after receiving 14 bids in the first several hours it was online.
Two David Wright bats are being offered; both game-used. The autographed Wright model is at $550 while the unsigned edition was at $610, although that is likely to change as the bidding pushes closer to the July 11 deadline.
Other bats available and their current high bids:
- Evan Longoria $530
- Alex Rodriguez $520
- Mark Teixeira (autographed, game-used) $440
- Adam Dunn game-used $420
- Grady Sizemore $410
- Jim Thome (autographed, game-used) $360
